Goals Counsellor and Project Worker

Main tasks

My role within the goals counselling service is too provide extra support for clients who have suffered any form of traumatic experience and wish to deal with the issues. I am trained as an Integrative Therapist and the service offers up to 18 counselling sessions.
I also work with my colleague delivering the women's group. Another area that i am interested in is the area of steroids and changing drug trends. At the moment i have started ketamine workshops for clients and health professionals.

A brief history of how I got into the work

The reason that I got into the line of work that I am involved in, is through personal experience and seeing people close to me struggle with their drug addictions. I had always worked in the caring environment, benefits agency then on a secure unit and then working with children for the NCH, and at the age of 24 i went back to university to retrain as a counsellor. I have been with drug aid now for 3 years I am also in my final year of my PGCE at Newport University.
