Volunteering

Volunteers are an important part of Drugaid's team. We are keen to involve them in the work of the agency as much as possible.

Contact Drugaid at office@drugaidcymru.com or phone us on (029) 2088 1000 for details of projects that need volunteers.

Drugaid requirements:

The Volunteer must undertake training usually with Newlink, South Wales, before starting work. The Newlink training is free and present Drugaid volunteers have said how much they enjoyed it. For information ring Newlink Tel: (029) 2076 4411. The volunteer must be able to commit at least 4 hours per week (eg. a.m. or p.m.) between hours of 9 and 5.

Type of person required:

The volunteer must be keen to work with people and must be non-judgemental.

Type of work required:

The work required of the volunteer is very varied:

  • General office duties - eg. photocopying, compiling files, meeting and greeting clients, making tea/coffee, answering the phones and taking messages.
  • Shadowing a variety of Drugaid workers to experience the range of work done and the way it is done.
  • Supporting Drugaid workers on first home visits
  • Supporting Drugaid workers at awareness raising and educational visits.
  • Being involved in family support work

What Drugaid has to offer:

  • Volunteers will gain knowledge understanding and experience of Drugaid's work
  • Volunteers will receive support from Drugaid staff
  • Volunteers will receive group supervision and ongoing training
  • Volunteers will have the chance to apply for paid employment with the agency should they wish to do so.
