Adfam
Adfam is a community committed to ending the silence about drugs and alcohol, and placing the needs of the family at the heart of society's response. In a recent poll, parents said that drugs and alcohol and their impact on young people worried them more than any other issue.
Alcohol Concern
Alcohol Concern is the national agency on alcohol misuse. We work to reduce the incidence and costs of alcohol-related harm and to increase the range and quality of services available to people with alcohol-related problems.
CAIS
CAIS is a major voluntary sector provider of drug and alcohol services in Wales. CAIS was established in 1976 as the Clwyd and Gwynedd Council on Alcoholism and its main aim is to provide a range of services for people who misuse drugs or alcohol, and to work with communities and other agencies to prevent alcohol and drug related harm.
Daily Dose
The aim of our "Daily Dose" Website is to provide links to news and reports concerning drug and alcohol misuse (abuse), and drug addiction.

The "Daily Dose" page is updated twice a day and the headlines have been selected from a wide range of information providers. They are linked directly to these sources where the original reports can be accessed via the Internet free of charge. These include organisations & agencies that are specifically concerned with substance misuse, newspapers and magazines, governments, education, law and medical bodies, and scientific publications.
Dare
As part of the D.A.R.E. International family, the programme is currently operating in 50 countries around the world. Annually, 35 million young people worldwide benefit from one of the established D.A.R.E. Curriculums. In the UK each year, over 480 schools and 20,000 youngsters receive the programme

The Charity is dedicated to ensuring that the Children of the United Kingdom are able to deal with issues relating to drugs and violence which they will inevitably face during their lives. Our life skills based programme encourages young people to achieve their best in life.

Institute of Alcohol Studies
The Institute of Alcohol Studies (IAS) is an educational body with the basic aims of:
*Increasing knowledge of alcohol and the social and health consequences of its misuse.
*Encouraging and supporting the adoption of effective measures for the management and prevention of alcohol-related problems.

The Institute is financially independent of both government and the drinks industry and is sponsored by the United Kingdom Temperance Alliance Ltd, a registered educational charity.

Parents Against Drug Abuse
PADA was set up some 15 years ago in Birkenhead on the Wirral. The lack of services for drug users was beginning to be addressed, however there were no such services for the parents and families of drug users. Although initially set up to deal with calls from the Cheshire area, the PADA helpline is now the first port of call for parents throughout the UK. All volunteers on the helpline are training to Level 3 Open College accreditation; many are parents who have experienced drug use in their own families.
Release
Release, the drugs charity which set up the first national drug helpline in 1967, has launched a new-look website. Advice on drugs, the law and human rights.

Wired
The WIRED Initiative has been developed to help individuals, families and communities tackle drug and alcohol misuse. It will:

* raise awareness and understanding
* facilitate communication and collaboration
* provide support, help aftercare and rehabilitation
* conduct action-orientated research
* bridge the gap between practice, research and policy

WIRED has developed a series of unique web sites on substance misuse that have already attracted a large world-wide audience. It is also involved in a range of activities in the community, including a strong research programme on substance misuse.
